Mission

Our Mission is to Increase Awareness about Suicide Prevention and Mental Health by Producing Events that Align with other Organizations that support Military, First Responders and their Families.

We believe that live music, events, sports and annual hikes can be the vessel of expression for active duty military and first responders to have uncomfortable conversations about how suicide has impacted their lives and lives of others.

Jake's Story

Jake Solley joined the Marines at seventeen years old after graduating from Valencia High School in 2013.

In the five years he served, he quickly moved up the ranks serving as a squad leader with 1/1 Weapons Company 81mm Mortar Platoon from 2014-2017. Jake pursued joining MARSOC but had a major setback after he broke his ankle during MARSOC Assessment and Selection program. He began Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival (MCIWS) in 2017 then subsequently began Naval School for Explosive Ordinance Disposal at Eglin Air Force Base in Pensacola, FL, July of 2018 as a Meritorious Sargent.

Jake shot himself in the head on September 25th, 2018. He was 23. Jake would be the first one to tell you that he didn't need help and was the last one to reach out to others to receive guidance about dealing with his mental health. We know if Jake was here today that he would help end the stigma about communicating with friends and family about  depression/anxiety, help educate others about the signs of suicide, and how exercising your mental and physical health can help you get through the rough days.

Jake will always be known for his tenacity, determination, passion, loving spirit, and ability to belt Katy Perry's "Dark Horse."

We have developed a first-of-its-kind, comprehensive treatment program addressing the psychological aftermath of trauma. Treatment is both collaborative and evidence-based.

Headstrong commits to support those who bravely served their country, regardless of service era or discharge status, and battle daily with the impact of trauma. We deliver the treatment, tools and support needed to win that battle. Cost-free. Bureaucracy-free. Stigma-free.

New Crisis Line Number: 988

Signed into law in 2020, the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act authorized 988 as the new three-digit number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. All telephone service providers in the U.S. must activate the number no later than July 2022; however, many providers will choose to implement the service sooner. Once a Veteran's telephone service provider makes 988 available, Veterans can use this new option by dialing 988 and pressing 1 to contact the Veterans Crisis Line and through chat (VeteransCrisisLine.net/Chat).

Call 1-877-476-7734 to speak anonymously with a live person. The Marine Corps DSTRESS Line is an anonymous Marine-to-Marine phone and chat support service that operates 24/7.

We can all help prevent suicide. The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals.
